Anambra is a state in south-central Nigeria. It has one of the highest population densities in Africa. This has posed other serious problems from undue pressure on the state's resources, fragile infrastructure, environmental sanitation and social services, etc. This pressure is especially evident in its huge commercial nerve center of Onitsha.
History
Anambra State was created on the 3rd of February, 1977. It was one of the two states carved out of the former East Central State.
On August 27, 1991, Enugu State was created out of Anambra State and its capital was moved to Awka.
The state derives it name from the Anambra river which runs north to south through the state.
Agriculture
Several raw industrial materials and agro-products are located in various parts of the state and they include Oil Palm, Maize, Rice, Yam, Cassava, and Fish.
